We are serious when we say that. We have been networking for years in a variety of organizations using a slew of methodologies. We have learned what we should not do which has clearly lead us to what we should do. What is that?
We represent each other. Each of us have a loyalty and a responsibility to each other in our group. We understand the unique skills of each Edison Professional. Through our weekly meetings and our member to member meetings, we have grown to like and respect every member of our group. Beyond that, we are friends. There is a connection between us not unlike family. That allows us to refer our members without reservation to our friends, family and everyone else in our contact sphere. This is very powerful.
Weekly in-person meetings. When you meet with every member of your team every week, you build a relationship which often lasts for life. Each week, every member has an opportunity to present an advertisement to the team. The ad highlights what the team members should look for as they go about their business and life.
Member and Member Meetings. An important obligation of being a member of Edison Professionals are the member and member meetings. The meetings are personal and professional and mutually informative. You will learn of new services or products that are available, areas that need to be developed, capabilities that are under utilized, skills that have been recently acquired. You will learn how best to serve. You will also become familiar and appreciate each other as professionals but also as individuals. Mutual business often develops after a member and member meeting. The more you know about your team members, the more you can serve them and they you.
The gift of giving, You may have seen the words “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” These are powerful words. As Mark Twain put it, “To get the full value of joy, you must have someone to divide it with.” Winston Churchill put it this way, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” Anne Frank said it this way, “No one has ever become poor by giving”. The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu spoke these words, “The wise man does not lay up his own treasures. The more he gives to others, the more he has for his own”. That’s right, man has understood the gift of giving since 500 BC. There are rewards in giving, some financial but mostly personal.
No Competitors on the Team. This is huge. You can’t excel in a group that regularly meets if you have a competitor in the ranks. If you are a carpenter, you will be the only carpenter in the group and you are probably one of the best carpenters in the area. Because the team is always referring you to their closest associates, you had better perform. If you don’t, you will not last as a team member. At Edison Professionals, trust is earned, day after day, year after year.
Obligation. Edison Professionals has a few participation policies. Like attendance at meetings, keeping up with member and member meetings and following up on referrals. All members have an obligation and responsibility to adhere as best they can to these policies. It is better for the team and it is better for you as a member. It will enhance your experience and provide the foundation for better rewards.
Imagination. We all have dreams. We can envision what we want, where we want to be, what we want to be doing. Here is the key. Our imagination is the foundation for our dreams. The building blocks with which we create our vision. Our team helps us achieve our goals by understanding our dreams. It is our collective mission.
Trust. Each of our members has worked very hard throughout their lifetime to establish a high level of trust with those they work with, those they socialize with and those they live with. It carries on here at Edison Professionals. Why is Edison Professionals the best networking organization you will find anywhere? In one word; Trust. It is why we represent each other. It is why we think about each other. It is why we are concerned for each other. We trust each other! When you have trust, you can move mountains. As a team built on trust and these other principals, you can accomplish anything you can imagine.
We have learned other important lessons. We will share them with you. Join us.
